Leading sustainable energy and water expertise for Food & Beverage industries

Adven has the longest history and the most references in its field in providing energy services for Food & Beverage industries. In the core of this almost 40 years of experience is the reliability of energy supply, deep understanding of the initial needs, and insight of the most beneficial solutions for this industry of high importance for the whole society. When Adven takes care of the investment, both businesses and the environment win.

Let’s reveal your opportunities! Holistic analysis draws the roadmap for improved energy and water efficiency and enables lower emissions and savings.

Solutions for Food & Beverage industries

Companies in Food and Beverage industries have been the forerunners in taking actions towards higher sustainability in their production processes and supply chains. Drivers being the sense of necessity both from societal and economical perspectives. The huge potential that contributes to these initiatives lies in the field of energy and water efficiency as well as side stream recovery.

Sustainable energy production and energy efficiency ranks high in the low carbon roadmaps

Several well-known companies in Food and Beverage industries are taking initiatives towards sustainable and lower emission production chains. In recent years major changes and investments have also been implemented in energy production by conversion to biofuels, and thousands of tons of CO2 burden is taken off the planet. An act not only benefitting the environment and the corporate image but also the financial performance of the companies with higher allowances. Huge potential exists also in excess heat recovery, which is in the core of improved energy efficiency through energy reuse in own processes and even through supply for others.

Evaporation taken to the next level

Evaporation is a focal process phase in Food & Beverage industry. By improving the energy efficiency of evaporation, consumption of steam and emissions of energy production can be significantly reduced. Evaporation processes can be improved for example by implementing MVR-evaporation further down in the core process. By doing that total steam consumption can be reduced even by 50%.

Industrial water treatment can be the unexplored opportunity

Adven’s specialists can spot areas in need of development and provide insight into how also other than energy utility areas can be developed further. Industrial water treatment is one of those untapped opportunities in Food and Beverage industries. As substantial quantities of water and steam are consumed in various process phases the cost savings arise from implementing closed water cycles and more efficient evaporation. More savings can be generated from nutrient recovery and biogas production by converting sludge and other excess biomaterials to biogas.

Keeping it cool with years of experience in cold production

Thanks to nearly two decades of experience in implementing and operating the cold and cooling processes within Food and Beverage industries, we think it’s even safe to say that we are the leading producer of industrial cold in our field. Cold production needs vary from fridge and freezer temperatures depending on the needs. Natural coolants, ammonia and carbon dioxide, are typically used in the cooling process. The heat coming from the cooling process can also be recovered by using heat pumps and directed for instance into the low-temperature network instead of being released to the outdoors. The key to the energy solution in Food and Beverage sector is that the energy generated by the cooling process is utilised as effectively as possible.

Savings and revenue from side streams

Typical side streams in Food & Beverage industries are raw materials like lactose, various fats and bones to name a few. These interesting residuals with monetary value often go to waste after the production process, yet today, these side streams can be harnessed for reuse, or processed further into products that can even be sold. Nowadays the recovery of side streams is considered in about 90% of Adven’s ongoing industrial sales projects.
