Energy transition at Arctic Paper Munkedal, Sweden
In April of 2021, we officially started the construction of a new energy plant at Arctic Paper’s paper mill in Munkedal. The collaboration will ensure a safe and competitive energy supply at the mill and drastically reduce the climate impact.
Adven is responsible for building the new boiler plant of 30 megawatts, which instead of natural gas and electricity will be run on recycled fuels such as wood, paper and plastic from industrial operations. The facility being built can be adapted to handle other types of fuel in the future. The conversion is estimated to lead to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from energy production by 30,000 tonnes per year.
